In life we dance with each other and a lot of the dances we perform are to assist and edify each other.
These efforts may not directly aid our life purpose or learning.
So this is the time when the deceased really sort out their memories.
In this phase of assimilation the deceased decide which memories of their prior life contain the learning that contributed to their personal evolution.
The deceased, at this level, decide which lessons or experiences from the most recent or prior life they are going to keep in their memory.
They will keep memories of what advanced them or contributed to their knowledge and the mistakes or poor judgment they do not wish to repeat. They sort out and discard the experiences that were not key to their development. They also keep memories about people who were important in the prior lifetime.
