Reading your description of the wonderful journeys and “interviews” I
could hardly put the book down, raced through it in a day and decided
I needed it for my own. The session you had with Joseph Campbell
totally captured me. I heard him twice in lecture at the University
of Washington – in early 1980 and then again in 1986 shortly before he
died. He sounded so much himself in your reporting.
I felt the sincerity, the extreme will to help and your honesty during
my reading of the whole book so strongly that I could fully believe
all you wrote. I have read books by other authors who reported lives-
in between or afterlives or past lives through the experience of their
hypnotized clients, but these always bored me in the end. In your
book I feel the immediacy of direct experience so strongly and in all
its beautiful promise. Thank you for your bravery in publishing all
in faithful detail.

I was in Borders in West Lebanon, NH the other day and saw your book. I have a strong interest in the afterlife and read many, many books on the subject, both old and new. Your book, however, expressed to me the exact beliefs I hold about the afterlife including several experiences of my own.

After reading the excerpts at your website, i ordered the book and couldn’t wait for it to arrive.
I loved the way you organized and presented the information; at the first, i moved rapidly through it. When you got to the part about the city of Light I had to stop for a while, and actually go back and reread some of the prior chapters. Then I was able to move rapidly throught the rest. I can’t wait for your next books.
I don’t where to begin with how deeply your book touched me, but I do want to thank you very much for what you have done, and for being able to share your experiences.

Every time you mention the deceased, you are speaking about all of us, physically alive and physically dead. The process is the same now as it will be later. So thanks to you, i can put it in practice throughout the day, every day.

You bet I bought a copy: this work has been distilling since a long time! And perhaps you know the excited feeling when you discover that somebody who has always been a helper (and sometimes fairy godmother) to friends, family, plants and animals around her, has suddenly blossomed into a helper on the broad universal scale with her work.
My family and I are fascinated with this first book (& with hearing about Gretchen’s upcoming books as well), her clear precise mind, her methodical study and gentle & balanced approach to the delicate questions we and our loved ones face in the afterlife, will no doubt be a comfort and a tremendous help to many people. Hi Gretchen. I had to find a minute to write you to tell you how much I am enjoying your book! It is so eloquently put – and you have such a nice infusion of humor as well. Just finished Chapter 5 and am feeling badly for Bert. I would hunt Greg down in the afterlife if he did that to me 
… Seriously – I love all of the stories and you put them to the reader so easily! I keep thinking about what I will do after my death transition, or what I picture it to be like and even before your book I think I had a pretty good mental expectation/hope or idea of what it will be like. I always seem to envision a feeling of peace and warmth. I picture seeing people that I’ve known but have died before me and catching them up on things here, though after reading your book, I’m not sure if they’ll actually need any catching up anymore!
